Student Deals and Discounts in FLORENCE, ITALY

Whether you’re studying abroad or just passing through Florence, it always pays to have your University ID on hand. I’ve learned that most businesses don’t openly advertise discounts and special rates for students, but a lot do have them. I’ve made it a rule to never pass up an opportunity to ask. Museums, certain restaurants, cafes, and theaters are good places to inquire.

The worst they can say is no.

Ideally they’ll say “YES! Here’s how much you’re saving.”

And BEST case scenario: Actually, it’s FREE for students. Which can happen I swear.

The reason why so many places will give student discounts is so that they can gain your business and you become a loyal customer. It benefits you and them to give you the discount. And here’s a little secret: even if you’re taking a gap year or you're a recent grad, ask anyway.

I studied abroad in Italy during the spring semester of 2022, and did not take advantage of the deals businesses just throw at students. And as Florence becomes an even bigger study abroad destination, more and more stores, restaurants and businesses are joining the bandwagon and even hosting exclusive events for university students!

Don’t make my mistake. Find the discounts so you can save more now and then spend more later. Here is a list of my top favorite spots that are student friendly in Florence!
